Doing a few western illustrations this evening. I know this is indirectly inspired by a Frazetta pen sketch I've seen, but I can't for the life of me find it in my books. At any rate, I'm sure Frazetta did it far better than I could have.
I actually drew these elements separately and composed them in PS (I was working on small Bristol). What do you think of the shading? I've been thinking of doing more work like this... I'm also thinking it might look good if I run it through Painter.
really cool man, I love how the cowboys cigarette falls out of his mouth as he notices the ambush and reaches for his gun, you couldn't have done this any better. I would love to see this animated, i wanna know who wins lol.
Ps. don't worry, frank frazetta was a god, you did a better job than most could
I like how the shading on his leg seems to sort of fade into the picture. I've always been a fan of that particular effect.
That, and I like that topknot the Injun is rocking. That is a seriously mean topknot. You see a guy coming with no shirt, and a topknot like that, you know he has got one big ass piece of crooked steel on him he is just waiting to perforate your cowpoke hide with.
You've definitely got a flair for these western pieces! I love the expressions, and I think the shading looks pretty good! You should try colour for it...
I kinda lost interest in wrestling after it became the WWE. I've tuned in Smackdown and Raw a few times just to see what they're up to, but I'm pretty much lost, and I can't say I like many of the character's I saw aside from Ray Mysterio. Little high-flying acrobatic guys like him will always be cool.
