This is the clean pencil version of the character I intended to enter as part of the Drawstick Capcom character design contest. But at one point a couple weeks ago I took a look at the competition, and saw that some of those kids wanted to win this WAY more than I did, so I stopped here. I still kinda dig the character, but I just don't have the time or the drive to take it to full color and draw out a page of multiple attacks and so forth, like the other entrants.
No name for this guy, but I did sketch out a background story. He's an Indian/Irish gunslinger (I wanted a combination of dark skin and flaming red hair), who had retired to his father's tribe to forget his past as a hired gun, but Darkstalkers slaughtered them all in the night. He rose from the grave to take vengeance for his family and to repent for his sins by wreaking havok upon the evil Darkstalkers that threaten humanity.
He would have a barroom brawler's fighting style, full of dirty attacks like the ol' knee to the nuts (throw) or throwing dirt in the eyes (rising attack), and his special attacks would involve his guns, knives, or mystic shaman powers that were granted to him upon his ressurection.
Enjoy the pencils, and let me know how you like the character. And be sure to check out the contest over at the Drawstick forums [link] and see the entries... some of those people put in a ton of work, and the results are really excellent. Some of them are way cooler than the actual Capcom characters!
Whoa! This character design is incredibly detailed and sinister! It must have been hard drawing all of his clothing!
You know, I spent several months thinking "Darkstalkers has covered several monster archetypes but I wonder if Capcom missed any out..." This character is the answer!
I got Johnny Cash's Ghost Rider running through my head when i saw this. Awesome detail. Thats something i always have admired about your work. Keep it up.
