-EDIT-

Replaced with the wallpaper version I built. I think it's a little less jarring at this angle.

-END EDIT-

Final line art, I think, for the Cap v. Spidey pinup, done for the 50th Penciljack Jamboree. PJ is a forum for artists to gather, socialize and learn from each other, generally focusing on the creation of comics and comics art. I spend far too much time there.

:D

So okay... not much more to say on this that hasn't been said already in the previous post: [link]

The background here took about 6 hours to draw all by itself, and the fact that I didn't create these two elements (the main characters and the BG) at the same time kinda hurts the overall image, I'm afraid. But I didn't really think up the background until I'd already drawn out the characters, and force-matching the perspective got kinda iffy. You can see I changed Cap's leg up to avoid actually actual contact with the BG elements, which is a cheat that leads to the characters being a little floaty, but let's me get away with my my lack of forethought... it's hard for the two different perspectives to be wrong when they don't actually interact.

Originally it was an alleyway, but all the ideas I had for that were so damn boring. Switching it up to an environment with people helped a lot, but I should have gone with my original idea... a park, which would have been more evenly populated and offered more opportunities for detail. Either way though, I liked the idea of them bouncing off a pole more than a wall, because it opens up the space.

Oh, well. Better learned next time.

If you're just tuning in, this is a digital ink piece, drawn in Comic Studio EX, 11x17 at 600dpi, equivalent to analogue dimensions. Mainly used a 9x12 Intuos. Had a little Photoshop help with the webline. Largely done with raster tools... but digital drawing allows for a lot of trickery that can be very convenient for pulling straight lines or ellipses or patterns. Total time for the whole shebang estimated at about 12 hours over 3 days.

I may never go back to the trees unless someone makes me.

And now I gotta get back to work. Deadlines loom.
