Dark Jedi by Inkthinker Dark Jedi by Inkthinker
For the MESS Studio competition over at HOON's homesite: [link]

Check out the pencils over here: [link]

And if you want to take a whack at coloring these yourself, a decently-sized version is available here: [link]

I'm not a great colorist, I think that goes without saying. But then again, this is about 2 hours of coloring... so I can't swear that I put in everything I could. It's really more of a color comp, but that's all I managed to find time for.

This guy has no hands or feet, but is wrapped into a bionic limb system. His legs are based on these real-world spring-boots I've seen footage and still of. You can really bounce around on those things, and so I imaging this guy leaps and somersaults and cartwheels around while he fights.
:D

-EDIT-

Well, there's a twist... I actually won the competition. Color me shocked, 'cause I really didn't expect that.

-EDIT II-

Found a site for the actual stilts that his legs are based on: [link]

In addition, I notice that a lot of stiltwalking performers at theme parks wear these things now, as well. I suspect they must be more comfortable than the old construction stilts.

They're not that far removed from the "Cheetah Flex-foot", which is an artificial spring-like leg for below the knee. Turns out that people with cheetahs attached really can outperform natural humans, though they still need to be highly athletic to do so.

it looks cool at first but i don't like the arms, they don't really look all that flexible, just really long...

Yeah, it's not flawless. :D

The lower arms could extend or retract length, but overall (as was pointed out below) this design is at serious disadvantage in close spaces.

oh all right, i suppose thats not too bad of a handicap considering that most jedi would probably have trouble in close spaces with their long lightsabers... you saw ep 3 too im sure

Photoshop, I think. It would almost have to be, since I'm not particularly adept with other programs.

I'm not too set with the details of the canon these days. Once upon a time I was a major SW geek, but I guess I sort of fell out of the mainstream on it.

Grievous turned out to be such a disappointing puss though. I mean, Tartakovsky did some creative things with his desgin, but the ILM animators couldn't come up with anything better than windmilling lightsabers? What a let down.

Yeah I hear ya!

If it were up to you, what would you make Grievous do?

Always remember though......He had magnetic feet, supposedly he could
spin his torso around along with sabers' in his hands(I guess?)!

Just more flipping and spinning and generally acrobatic shit. The dude had four arms and articulated feet, he coulda been doing backflips and cartwheels and switching hands and bouncing off the ceiling and shit, but noooo... we get the spinning windmills instead.

If you didn't catch the final episode of the first Clone Wars animated series (chapter 20), it's worth checking out for the Grievous fight alone. Tartakovsky gave us a little clue of what Grievous could have been like.

Isn't Chapter 20 the episode where Mace Windu crushes Grievous's chest
with the force?

By the way......What do you think about Star Wars comic continuity? Also,
what is your favorite SW story(Novel or comic-wise)?For me I'd say Shadows
of the Empire because of the new characters like Dash Rendar,Prince Xizor,
and Guri.

Nah, that happened in the second Clone Wars series. In the first series (bascially 20 2-minute cartoons), the last episode involved a bunch of Jedi I can't recall the names of getting tore up by Grievous in some abandoned wreck (technically the first "film" appearance of Grievous). It was pretty inspiring, but apparently that's about as good as it got.

Honestly, Big Flannel really wrecked my love for the SWU with the new films... I used to have a lot of the EU material (which has since been declared to be out of canon as far as "official" SWU content goes) and I really liked the X-Wing books, both because I loved that game and because I enjoy the writing of Michael Stackpole and Aaron Alston. But after the last three movies, I pretty much moved on in my fandom. I got about halfway through the whole Yuuzan-Vong thing and just lost interest.

HaHa,"Big Flannel",that's funny!Either that or "Big Turtleneck"!Lol!Yea,I hear
ya on the Yuuzan-Vong thing,it's not cool like the Imperials! Not only that, but
Chewie is dead! That sucks!I dunno.......Lucas has made it hard now to keep
up with!

Yeah, I noticed a couple people wearing them at Universal. Nobody doing the crazy flips and bounces I've seen on video, though... if you wear 'em AND you're willing to risk broken limbs/concussions, you can do some pretty outrageous shit.
