-EDIT 112206-

I decided the sepia tone sucks, and replaced it with a simple greyscale version.

-EDIT 033106-

Made a few minor changes... added texture to the barrels, changed the shadow on the poster, added a bit of crap on the pillar to break it up some and added some more texture to the bar. I think that's all.

I think the background is a little weak, but we get better by working at 'em. I'm feeling a little of what Mark Brooks was saying, about how the way to get better at drawing backgrounds (or anything that you generally avoid drawing and know you need to improve on) is to learn to love drawing backgrounds. I know, it sounds a little flip, but he's right... you gotta start really looking at backgrounds, finding things that impress you and working to understand how they're done, and eventually you find things to like about them, and then it's easier to try drawing 'em.

At least, so I figure.

If you get a desire to color this, go ahead and give it a shot... the only rule is that you have to let me know about it, and I'd appreciate a credit or link when you post it. You can convert this version to greyscale if you like. My advice is to give a lot of consideration to the lighting, and don't take my shadows for granted 'cause they're probably not always right... Probably not even usually right, really.

:D

Uh, specs are 14x17, red and HB pencil on Smooth Bristol, color strip via Photoshop. Total time... gah, I have no idea. 14 hours, maybe?

A few of you might not have seen this the first time, so here's the Dwarf alone, with no BG >> [link] <<

It's not bad! A little dark, but a second light source could help.
:iconcleverblue:
thank you!
yea, i tried adding the second light source with strong back-lighting, with the blues. lol guess i didn't pull it off well.
I know the painting looks darker on my monitor at home but lighter at work. So it might be different for you too. Not sure.
But thank you for looking at it!!! :D

Thanks! I think the english word you're looking for is "tones".

All pencils there. One of the last times I did a full pencil piece, too.
