A gift from the boss, it measures about 4.5 inches by 3.5 inches. The paper stock is quite heavy, which makes it good for ink, and it has an elastic band that holds it shut. It's really portable and ideal for small thumbnail sketches.
I've become a real fan of small thumbnails before going into larger illustrations, because a little thumbnail makes it easier to spot flaws in composition and layout. Anatomy errors are easier to spot, and you can rough in ideas without wasting too much time before being able to see if it's a good concept or not. since I've been doing so many more doodles like this, you can expect to see more of them from me (though unless they're really good, they'll remain in the Scraps).
I want 1!!! lol Like your little sketches 2... i reckon i'll start doing smaller versions instead of jumpin straight into big versions 2... tar for the advice
Serious, I feel my work really came up a notch since I started doing more thumbnails. Espescially when you plan to take all the time and put in the effort to do a full-size balls2dwall illustration... doing a tiny version first to sort of "plan it out" makes a lot of sense. And practicing stuff in small, quick sketches can save you time in the long run.
hah cool shit ... i likes to carry around a small book with me too ... tho how often i actually use it is one thing ... its definitly a good thing to have tho
Wal-Mart quality, baby!! Buy a dozen of 'em for $1.12 and the line they hold is so nice. They're my tool of choice for pencilling, when I'm not getting all fancy about it and going with a mechanical leadholder.
