Rough boards for the "Punching Bag" segment of the Nike commercials I worked on in late 2008 (hence the "old work" tag). These were translated into an animatic for approval and then reworked into animation frames. Because all the frame production was handled in Photoshop, final frames were drawn directly over the boards, and those frames were painted and then composed in AfterEffects and Final Cut.
Originally I pushed for this piece to have a very high-contrast look like the work of one of my favorite director/animators, Takeshi Koike, but sadly it was not to be... the director had a different idea, and so it goes. In retrospect it would have been a poor imitation, but I still would have liked to try.
