Skullkickers 12 - 'The Beholder' pg 01

Skullkickers #12 is out now! "Four More Tavern Tales" collects four short stories by different artists and writers, and in this volume I was privileged to illustrate a six-pager entitled "The Beholder", written by Zach Weiner of SMBC and colored by Espen Grundetjern.

This is just a short tease of the linework (note the blockout for title and credits, which of course doesn't appear in the final). I did have fun playing with a somewhat subtle effect here, in that all the scenes which take place indoors were surrounded by solid black panels and filled gutters, while outdoor pages (like page #2) run past the bleed and have hollow gutters between panels.

Yeah, I'm a comics art-nerd.

I had a blast with these characters and the action. It's my first published comics work in a long while (not counting Joe is Japanese, which continues to publish online but not yet in print).
