One of several illustrations produced in August of 2007 for the video game On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness, from Hothead Games and Penny Arcade (subcontracted through Imaginary Friends Studios). Not to be confused with fan-art, because I actually got paid to produce this for the game.

This particular illustration is one of my favorites from the set, a variation on Penny Arcade's very own Fruit F***er (hey I got a few minors in the audience out there). In this particular case, it's the Steam Fruit F***er (I understand there are other types of Fruit F***ers in the game as well). The project manager didn't call for a full-body illustration, but I went out on a limb and drew it up anyhow, 'cause once I got rolling I didn't want to stop.

Drawn in Photoshop CS2, Intuos 9x12 tablet. And of course, it's all © Penny Arcade/Hothead Games... I just draw 'em, folks.

:D

For the various FF types? No, I wish. The art director split 'em up, and I only got to do this one. And more so than with some of the others, this was one of those "ink Krahulik's (Gabe) rough sketch" parts of that gig, not something where I got to try and make up much of it. It was a lot of fun to work on.

wha!? lol I thought you were actually Gabe from PA for a second. SO you actually worked on the game huh? Thats so cool man.

I read you been working on a cintiq. I've been thinking of getting one. My mind doesnt compute with the graphics tablet, and it would speed up my animation to no end...I imagine. What size you got? Been looking at the 'cheap' 12wx myself.

HA! No, I just drew these directly from his rough designs. If it looks enough like his work to fool folks, though, I guess I did my job. :D

I love working on the Cintiq, but they're a hell of an investment... I work on 18s and 21s, but they're studio workstations at Fates. At home I work on an Intuos 9x12 tablet, and that's what I did these on. I've heard really good things about the 12, though, and I'm itching to try one for myself... they're almost affordable!
